Business case estimator

What could goods-to-person picking save you?

A first-pass estimate of picking hours, labour cost and simple payback. Every assumption is on the page and you can change it. Bring the result to a technical briefing and we will test it against your real data.

Your operation
Average lines picked on a normal day.
Days the picking operation runs.
Used to size the number of pick stations.
Wage plus on-costs per picking hour.
Productivity assumptions
Person-to-goods picking including walking. Often 60–150 in practice; use your own figure.
Planning assumption, not a Sapien Tech test result. We will confirm a rating after physical testing.

Your budget or a quotation. This is not a Sapien Tech price.
Annual running cost for maintenance, spares and energy.

This is an estimate, not a quotation or a performance guarantee. It covers picking labour only; storage density, accuracy, energy, building and integration costs need a site study.

How the estimate is calculated
  • Picking hours today = order lines per day × operating days ÷ manual pick rate.
  • Picking hours with goods-to-person = order lines per day × operating days ÷ goods-to-person rate.
  • Net saving per year = hours saved × loaded labour cost − investment × service and energy percentage.
  • Simple payback = investment ÷ net saving per year. No financing, tax, inflation or residual value is included.
  • Pick stations needed = order lines per day ÷ (picking hours per day × goods-to-person rate), rounded up. Peaks need more.
